RSCE Donates Laptops and Printers to Schools in Entebbe
Entebbe, Uganda, 31 July 2025; The Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) donated forty (40) refurbished laptops and computers and four (4) 4-in-1 printers to Merryland Secondary School and Airforce Secondary School in Entebbe. The donation ceremonies, held on the same day, were attended by school leaders, students, RSCE staff, and representatives from the Uganda People’s Defence Air Forces (UPDAF).
At Merryland Secondary School, the event began with a warm welcome from School Director Dr. Dalton Segawa, followed by an address by Brigadier General Richard Rubongoya, Director HR for UPDAF and remarks from RSCE Director Paulin Djomo.
Mr. Djomo emphasized the transformative power of digital literacy and reaffirmed the RSCE’s commitment to supporting digital inclusion among the young learners. The laptops and computers, equipped with UNICEF’s Kolibri learning platform, are designed to provide high-quality educational content in low-connectivity environments, fostering inclusive learning.
Mr. Djomo also emphasised the importance of the partnership between RSCE and Merryland Secondary School.
“Through the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), Merryland generously provides RSCE with dedicated space where the Centre conducts specialized drone operator training. This collaboration not only enhances RSCE’s technical capacity but also reflects a shared commitment to education, innovation, and empowerment.” He said
Brigadier General Rubongoya concluded his remarks by encouraging students to use the tools not only for academic success but also to dream bigger and lead with purpose.
The ceremony included the signing of a handover certificate and a group photograph with students and staff, symbolizing the partnership between RSCE and the school.
Later in the afternoon, the RSCE delegation visited Airforce Secondary School, where the ceremony was graced by Brigadier General Rubongoya representing Lieutenant General Jack Bakasumba, Chief of Joint Staff UPDF.
Mr. Emmanuel Ngor, Chief of Regional Field Technology Service represented the RSCE Director and delivered his remarks highlighting the importance of collaboration between RSCE and the UPDF in fostering educational development.
“Today’s donation of laptops and printers transcends mere equipment transfer. It symbolises our commitment to empowering the next generation with access to technology and digital learning tools. Education is the cornerstone of development, and by supporting institutions like yours, we are investing in a brighter future for Uganda and the region.” He said.
Mr. Ngor praised the visionary leadership of Brigadier General Richard Rubongoya and acknowledged the dedication of RSCE colleagues who made the donation possible. He emphasized that the laptops and printers would enhance both teaching and administrative functions, enabling students and staff to engage more effectively with digital resources.
The donation ceremonies were part of RSCE’s broader initiative to empower youth through technology and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).
