Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Visits Regional Service Centre Entebbe

The Ambassador of China to Uganda, H. E. Zhang Lizhong visited the Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) on Friday, 29 August 2025. The Ambassador met with the Director RSCE, Mr. Paulin Djomo and the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Leonard Zulu.

The Ambassador was in Entebbe to meet the Director and RC and to get a better understanding of the UN operations in Uganda.

Mr Djomo briefed the Ambassador on the RSCE Operations and the developments happening at the Centre, highlighting the recent shift of UN global payroll services to Entebbe and RSCE Centre of Excellence in Data Analytics project.

Accompanied by the RC, the Director RSCE led the Ambassador on a tour of the Centre.

He was hosted to a presentation on the RSCE Client Service Delivery Model by the Chief of Client services, Ms Benta Aseto after which they toured the Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) Facility at the Regional Training and Conference Centre. VILT, which is the only one of its kind in Africa, combines the personal touch of an instructor-led classroom with the convenience of remote access complete with interactive elements like polls and chats.

To conclude the tour, the Ambassador visited the UN C4ISR Academy for Peace Operations (UNCAP) Mission Operations Centre - Simulated Training Environment (OPSCEN-STE) that provides core training on key UN-Owned Equipment to uniformed and civilian specialists in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR); and Camp Security.

While at UNCAP he was led through a demonstration of the Academy’s Micro Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) equipment and training capabilities.
