RSCE Concludes Cybersecurity Awareness Month with a Strong Call to Vigilance
As October draws to a close, the Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE) wraps up a dynamic and engaging Cybersecurity Awareness Month, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the digital environment we all rely on. This year’s campaign, themed “UNited in Securing Our Digital World,” served as a powerful reminder that cybersecurity is not just a technical concern, it’s a shared human responsibility.
Throughout the month, RSCE personnel participated in a series of virtual training sessions, daily cyber tips, and interactive awareness activities designed to strengthen digital resilience. The campaign focused on three critical areas: recognising and avoiding social engineering scams (“Don’t Get Hooked”), staying ahead of AI-driven cyber threats (“Outpace the Threat”), and securing mobile devices (“Lock it Down”). These themes reflected the evolving nature of cyber risks and offered practical strategies to counter them.
In a compelling opening message, RSCE Director, Mr. Paulin Djomo set the tone for the month, emphasising the importance of unity and proactive engagement. “Just like any successful mission, securing our digital world is only possible when we work together, “the Director said. “Let’s use this month not only to strengthen our defenses but also to celebrate the role each of us plays in building a secure, resilient, and trustworthy digital workplace. Thank you for your continued commitment to excellence and integrity. Let’s stay united, informed, and vigilant, today and every day.”
The campaign’s weekly cybersecurity tips served as timely reminders of how small actions can prevent major breaches. One of the most resonant messages: “Pause before you click! Most cyberattacks begin with a single careless click. Pause and verify links, attachments, and unexpected requests, even if they look like they’re from someone you know.”
As the month concludes, RSCE celebrates the active participation and enthusiasm of its personnel. The Centre’s ICT Security Team led by Mr. Michael Mwaura encourages staff to carry forward the lessons learned and maintain a culture of digital vigilance throughout the year. Cybersecurity doesn’t end with October; it’s a continuous mission that depends on each of us.
By staying informed, staying secure, and staying one step ahead, RSCE continues to lead by example in building a safe and resilient digital workplace for the United Nations.
