In his New Year’s message, the Secretary General of the united Nations, Antonio Guterres has named the world’s young people as the greatest source of hope for the planet.

In his video, Mr. Guterres appealed to the young people to keep speaking out, keep thinking big, keep pushing boundaries and to keep up the pressure amidst a warring world with persistent inequality and insecurity as well as a warming planet.

“Climate change is not only a long-term problem but a clear and present danger. We cannot afford to be the generation that fiddled while the planet burned.” He said

“But there is also hope. This year, my New Year’s message is to the greatest source of that hope: the world’s young people.” He added

The Secretary General feels inspired by the passion and determination of the young people and reiterated his support for the youth in rightly demanding a role in shaping the future.

2020 marks the 75^th anniversary of the United Nations. The UN will be launching a Decade of Action for the Sustainable Development Goals, a blueprint for a fair globalization.
