An Enduring Legacy-The Kofi Annan Conference Hall at the Regional Service Centre in Entebbe (RSCE)

Entebbe, UGANDA (Oct. 23, 2018) – Surrounded by staff as well as visiting senior management of OICT and the RSCE Client Board, Mr. Paulin Djomo, Chief RSCE along with Ms. Stephani Scheer, Director of Mission Support, United Nations Mission in South Sudan unveiled the plaque officially commemorating the establishment of the “Kofi Annan Conference Hall”.

The Hall, which is located in the RSCE Regional Training and Conference Centre and collectively consists of four conference rooms was previously called Nalubaale 1,2,3 and 4. It was renamed in honour of Mr. Kofi Annan, the United Nations’ seventh Secretary-General who served from January 1997 to December 2006 and will stand as a testament to the great legacy he left upon his passing on 18 August 2018. The rooms will be utilized to facilitate trainings, townhalls and other conference related activities for thousands of participants yearly.

At the renaming ceremony Ms.Scheer and Mr.Djomo highlighted the extensive achievements of Mr. Annan and all the efforts he had made to advance the Organization. Ms. Scheer noted that the Hall would serve as a constant reminder of Mr. Annan’s legacy for all who pass through.

“Kofi Annan served with passion, he was the United Nations and the United Nations was Kofi Annan. We are blessed to have had him,” said Djomo.
