RSCE hosts a visit from H.E. Mr. Peter Thomson, President of the UN General Assembly

The Regional Service Centre Entebbe was honored to host a visit from His Excellency Mr. Peter Thomson, President of the UN General Assembly on Thursday, 11 May 2017. During the visit, Ms. Safia Boly, Chief RSCE presented H.E. Thomson with an overview of the Centre, and took him on a tour of the RSCE offices and the Regional Training and Conference Centre.

During his visit to Uganda H.E. Thomson also met with the Right Honorable Prime Minister of Uganda Ruhakana Rugunda, where the RSCE’s comprehensive support to field missions was discussed.  The priorities of his visit also included the Sustainable Development Goals implementation and the UN’s role in sustaining peace in the region.  This visit was part of a larger agenda to “demonstrate the General Assembly’s solidarity with UN Peacekeepers who are operating in difficult circumstances around the globe and after engaging with the country leadership on the journey towards sustainable peace and sustainable development.”

H.E. Mr. Thomson was accompanied by Chef de Cabinet H.E. Mr. Tomas Anker Christensen, Senior Adviser Ms. Jullyette Ukabiala, Senior Adviser Mr. Oyama Mgobozi, Special Assistant to the Chef de Cabinet Mr. Michael Mcmanus and Senior Security Officer Mr. Asfandyar Khan.
